Organisation of Classes
At Windmill Hill we aim to provide a quality education for all the children in our care. In order to do this, we try to keep the classes as small as the budget will allow. Reception class has their own play area to enable them to settle into the school environment quickly.
Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
Ages 4 to 5
In the Early Years Foundation Stage class we follow the Statutory Framework.
The Foundation Stage is a very important stage as it helps your child get ready for school as well as preparing them for their future learning and successes.
Key Stage 1 (KS1)
Years 1 and 2
Ages 5 to 7
When your child enters Year 1, at about five years old, your child will come into contact with the National Curriculum for the first time.
In Year 2, your child will also take National Curriculum tests and tasks in reading, writing and maths.
Key Stage 2 (KS2)
Years 3 to 6
Ages 7 to 11
In Key Stage Two at Windmill Hill the curriculum is still taught creatively but there are some subjects such as English, Maths and Science that are taught separately.
