Spring Update 2022

Spring Update 2022

The Spring Term in school has been very busy. The children were very lucky to have two Pantomime performances. We had a production of Jack and the Beanstalk before the Christmas holidays and then A Christmas Carol in February. We received an offer that was too good to turn down!

Christmas seems a very long time ago now but our Year 1 children are still talking about the day they spent at the Ombudsman Services in Daresbury. We were very kindly invited to attend their Christmas event where the children met lots of their favourite characters. Father Christmas made an appearance and all of them came back with lovely presents!

It has been two years since the start of the pandemic and school is finally fully back to normal. Some of our classes have been venturing out on trips.

Year 2 visited the Warrington Islamic Centre and Year 3 went to see the Van Gogh interactive exhibition at Media City in Salford Quays. We have also had lots of visitors in school. We had a Lego day where someone came in with boxes and boxes of Lego and gave the children tasks to complete and create. This was very popular with all of the children. In March, a mad scientist visited school and showed the children lots of experiments. Years 1 and 2 had a cooking afternoon with a local chef and made a lovely stir fry to take home. They learned about all of the different vegetables that are needed for the recipe and were shown how to prepare them. The school smelt yummy that afternoon!

Mike Amesbury MP considered us for a Chinese Language Day as he had been contacted by the Confucius Institute who wanted to visit some schools in the area. The Chinese tutors visited the school in March and worked with our Year 5 and Year 6 children. The children learned how to write and say their names in Chinese. They did some calligraphy and Chinese painting. This was a great opportunity for the children.

Mr East ran a very successful Holiday Club over the Easter holidays. It was very well attended and lots of activities were provided. There was even an Easter Egg hunt in which every child managed to find an egg! How lucky was that!

Our children are very fortunate to take part in all of these experiences and we work hard to provide as much variety as possible.
