Spring Update 2023
In January, Year 2 visited Weaver Hall Museum and Workhouse in Northwich. A servant of Samuel Pepys welcomed them and they learnt all about The Great Fire of London and the Great Plague. There was also an opportunity for dressing up in clothes from the time.
In March, Professor Bubbles visited school and ran a science workshop on Connections. It was great fun and there was lots of audience participation with the experiments!
The children have taken part in lots of sporting events in the borough. A group of children tried KinBall and Dodgeball. All of the children tried their best and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The children love to try new sports and we always take the opportunity to take part in as many as possible. Once again, the Beth Tweddle Gymnastics Club came into school and this club is always very popular and well attended.
Daresbury Laboratories came into school and ran a Coding Workshop with every class. The children used circuit boards to learn about coding and data logging by creating a light, sound or movement sensitive object. This was a great introduction to help children become more interested in coding and electronics and develop skills which Daresbury Labs will be looking for in the future!
We had a coffee morning where someone from the Mental Health Team came into school to talk about supporting children’s mental health. Parents were invited to attend to receive advice and tips of how to support their own child. We do lots of activities in school around supporting mental health and have a counsellor who comes in weekly to work with children who need extra support with their mental health.
Mr East ran a very successful Holiday Club over the Easter holidays. It was very well attended and lots of activities were provided. The children played sports, did craft activities. There was face painting and there was even an Easter Egg hunt. The children love the Holiday Club and lots of staff came in during the holidays to help support it.
